Oil, Lather, Rinse, Reveal: That’s how the double cleanse works.
So you know that super cool chick you knew in college? The one you quietly watched so you could emulate her every cool girl move? Well the one I watched already had her skin care ritual down and I thought it was so sophisticated. She had this black and white bottle and a “bar of soap” that she used everyday. Did I mention she had really gorgeous skin? Well, I finally worked up the guts to ask her about what it all was and it was Erno Laszlo.
The way it all works, and has been working since 1927, is a double cleanse that uses an oil to break up dirt and a solid cleanser to pick it all up so it will rinse away. The bar and oil my friend was using was the Detoxifying Cleansing Oil and Deep Sea Mud Bar, one of the original formulas. It is amazing for problem skin and was formulated with charcoal, deep sea mud and grape seed oil. Today, charcoal seems to be in everything but Erno Laszlo knew all about it 90 years ago. Crazy!
Ever since my introduction to this process, I always seem to go back to the double cleanse even when I stray. Life gets hectic and I always try to find a quick cheat or get too lazy but in the end it really takes no longer than a normal cleanse and my skin thanks me. I guess the fact that Greta Garbo, Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe were devoted to Erno Laszlo isn’t a bad testimony either. Plus it makes me feel extra glamorous doing a not so glamorous thing. Now Erno Laszlo has a bunch of different bars to choose from depending on your skin or even the season – lord knows I need to keep the extra moisture in the winter.
So here is a video on how it’s done! Believe me – your skin will thank you.
